2008 CRUISE SCHEDULE
 

Summer cruises depart from the Sandpoint City Beach Dock in Sandpoint. Spring & Fall cruises depart from Kramer Marina in Hope, 17 miles from Sandpoint. Boat & Goat cruise departs from Farragut State Park at the south end of the lake. Call 255-5253 to reserve. Reservations encouraged for all cruises. Beverages & snacks available on board. Please do not bring food or drink on board. Boarding begins 15 minutes prior to cruise.

*Week-end Spring Island Tour
We offer Saturday & Sunday cruises in the Spring, as well as some week-day cruises. This lovely 1.5 hour scenic tour cruises around the 4 islands off of Hope, including Pearl Island, a bald eagle sanctuary. Passengers learn the colorful history of the Hope Peninsula & islands. Spectacular scenery makes for incredible photo opportunities. The salon is heated for your comfort. In addition, we also do weekday cruises with minimum signup. The Shawnodese departs from Kramer Marina in East Hope, 17 miles from Sandpoint.

*Sunday Spring Clark Fork Delta Cruise
Enjoy this unique chance to cruise up the spectacular Clark Fork Delta. The serenity, wildlife, awe inspiring cliffs, and photo opportunities make this a "must do" three hour cruise for both residents and visitors alike. Many local residents have never been on the Delta, and yet it is one of the most scenic cruises in North Idaho. The First Mate says this is her favorite cruise! Lunch is available for additional cost of $3 to $8 per person.

Daily History Lake Cruise (except Sundays)
This daily afternoon cruise from Sandpoint is a delightful 9 mile loop trip near the shores of Lake Pend Oreille. Learn about the history & geology of our magnificent lake. See where the ice dam was formed 17,000 years ago that led to the creation of Lake Pend Oreille. Lake Pend Oreille's origin is a fascinating story and has been said by geologists to be "The greatest geologic story never told." Learn about the early Indian history and David Thompson, the first white man to explore our area. Discover the rich rail history, and our very strange connection to Navy submarine research. Most of all, experience the awesome beauty of our lake and mountains. And as a special treat for our young (and young at heart) passengers, children have an opportunity to be "Captain of the Day" & take a turn at the wheel.

* Sunday Island Tour This scenic 3 1/2 hour tour cruises along the shoreline before reaching the four islands of Hope. In this truly spectacular part of the lake, the Green Monarchs rise sharply, towering above the pristine water. Learn about the colorful and bawdy history of Hope, see where intrepid explorer David Thompson, the world's greatest land geographer, built the Kullyspel House. View the Clark Fork Canyon where the ice age dam was formed 17,000 years ago, leading to the eventual creation of Lake Pend Oreille. From Castles to Cribs, towering cliffs to soaring eagles, this cruise will delight both nature lover and adventurer.

Monday & Friday Sunset Dessert & Eagle Watching Cruise
Delight in a spectacular sunset aboard the Shawnodese while savoring a sampling of excellent desserts. The Shawnodese cruises to an island where passengers can thrill at the sight of bald eagles (90% success rate in viewing). Complimentary coffee and tea are served. There is no finer way to end a summer's day than on the Shawnodese. Sit back, relax, taste a variety of delectable sweets, and watch an eagle perched majestically in a towering pine, silhouetted against the setting sun. It's a slice of heaven, as well as a slice of cheesecake! Prices include dessert, coffee, and tea.

Wednesday Wine & Unwind River Cruise
Relax on board while cruising under the historic Rail Bridge & Long Bridge. See an osprey nest with its young up close & personal. Enjoy the setting sun over the Pend Oreille River while sipping a complimentary glass of wine.

*Tuesday & Thursday Night on Board Dinner Cruise & Eagle Watching
Enjoy casual dining with a delicious buffet style dinner catered by Valerie at Pend Oreille Pasta. Valerie is locally renown for her fabulous gourmet dinners and our passengers have always raved about her food. We cruise to an island to observe the resident bald eagles. Relax, get to know your fellow passengers, thrill at the sight of majestic bald eagles, and fill your palette with delicious cuisine. Fare includes cruise, dinner, & dessert. Comments from passengers such as "Best dinner cruise I have ever been on" are a common response to this unique cruise. This is a popular cruise, so book early. Please book by noon day of cruise, if possible.

4th of July Fireworks Cruise
You won't want to miss out on this cruise. There is no finer way to view fireworks than on the water. And the Sandpoint Lion's Club does a fine job of putting on a great show to light up the night. Enjoy the spectacular Sandpoint fireworks from a great vantage point-the lake! A no host bar & snacks are available during the cruise with complimentary coffee. This one always books quickly so reserve early!

*Wine Tasting & Eagle Watching Cruise
Savor excellent vintages of wine while enjoying delicious hors d'oeuvres. Feast your tastebuds and eyes while the sun sets in the west. Enjoy this unique chance to cruise up the spectacular Clark Fork Delta. The serenity, wildlife, awe inspiring cliffs, incredible Fall colors of the numerous deciduous trees in the Delta and photo opportunities make this a "must do" three hour cruise for both residents and visitors alike. Many local residents have never been on the Delta, and yet it is one of the most scenic cruises in North Idaho. Be sure to sign up for what is sure to be the most delightful cruise of the Fall Season. Fall colors are at their peak in October. First Mate Linda says this is her favorite cruise of all! Lunch is available for an additional cost of $3 to $8 per person.

Jet Boat Tours & Rentals
For the more adventuresome who would also like to see more of our beautiful Panhandle waterways, up to 6 passengers can be taken on custom private charter tours of Lake Pend Oreille and / or the Clark Fork & Pend Oreille Rivers. View the incredible Cabinet Gorge and Dam on the Clark Fork River. Or jet down to the south end of the lake to see the mountain goats of Bernard Peak. OR rent the jet boat yourselves for the day and explore our bays and rivers on your own. Passengers raved in 2006 about this fun and exciting way to see Lake Pend Oreille. Easy to drive and maneuver, the "Ahh Spray" can take you into shallow waters and areas where other boats can't easily go. Tubes and water skis are available to rent as well.
Jet Boat Tour w/Captain:
$85 per hour, 4 hour minimum, for up to 6 passengers. This is a flat rate for the boat, not per person. Plus fuel.
Jet Boat Rental:
$190
half day (4 hrs), $285 full day (8 hours).
$360 (24 hours) Plus fuel & tax.
 
The Shawnodese may also be chartered for private parties, family reunions, business meetings, weddings, memorial services, employee parties, dinner cruises on board, or just plain fun. Theme cruises are our specialty. For celebrations of any kind, just give us a call at 208-255-LAKE (5253). Price $250/hour for a 2 hour charter, 3 or more hours is $200/hour.
